Fire in a transformer
Many wind turbines have been running for over 20 years, and every turbine owner knows that damage happens from time to time. That also applies to the 10–15 kV switchgear, which usually sits in a station building next to the turbine or at the bottom of the tower.
One of our consultants visited an installation in Abild that had been out of operation for 2½ days during maintenance of the grid company’s 60 kV station.
When the installation was re-energised, one of the phases flashed over to earth and the plastic parts of the circuit breaker caught fire. These photos are from before the breaker was replaced.
