High-voltage operation
Every power-producing installation with high voltage must be operated by a responsible company that employs an operations manager approved by the Danish Safety Technology Authority. Nordic Wind Consultants employs such a person and can therefore take operational responsibility for the transformer installations on your turbines.
The responsible company must ensure the installation is operated according to the Danish order on safe operation of electrical installations. All turbines in Denmark from 400 kW upwards have their own transformer and are therefore covered. It is the owner of the installation who must have an agreement with a responsible company.
Many transformer stations at the oldest turbines are owned by the local grid company, which then holds the obligation. Later it became common for the turbine owner to also own the transformer installation and therefore need a responsible company.
An interconnection agreement is made between our operations manager and the grid company’s. We draw up a sketch of the installation showing the ownership boundary and the boundary of operational responsibility.
Inspections
As a rule, we inspect every second year:
- The turbine is stopped and the installation is de-energised and earthed.
- All parts of the installation are inspected.
- Important components and joints are photographed with a thermal camera.
- Earth resistance is measured at intervals and documented.
- A report is written with thermal images and comments on the installation.
- there are known problems with the installation,
- it is in a room with damp problems,
- mice and rats can get in,
- there are other design issues.
At the first inspection we assess the installation and set the interval between inspections. If parts need repair or replacement, we take care of it, if needed together with a company that has the right qualifications.
